Hello!

I have got three devices:

- LCD TV: Samsung LE40M87B
- Blu ray disc player: Panasonic DMP-BD55 (manual:
http://safemanuals.com/314159.php?k=00249be3839fec532340f7e6f1c3ef53&ID=1087208&q=PANASONIC%20DMP-BD55)
- WD Player (specification:
http://www.allegro.pl/item949834996_wd_tv_media_player_full_hd_hdmi_usb_warto.html)

1)
Every of this devices is able to play 1080p? Does letter "p" means also 50
progressive scan? Till now I used to use 25p which runs perfectly on blu ray
disc and WD player, but I don`t know if it will be played 50p?
Why do I ask for it? I wonder about buying camcorder Panasonic TM700 which
lets record videos in two formats: 50i and 50p? The better choose for me is
50p because I want to
play such movies both on computer and LCD TV via blu ray disc player and WD
Player.
2)
My Samsung LCD TV is able to play 50Hz and 60Hz 1080p movies. Does it mean
that I would be able to play 50p? Does 50p equals 50Hz?

Please help me....
Thank you in advance

Not necessarily. 1080p simply means that the device is able to play
1920 by 1080 progressively-encoded frames of video. Without an actual
frame rate being specified, you shouldn't make any assumptions as to
exactly which frame rates the device supports.

50p certainly does mean 50 Hz (cycles per second). 50i (50 interlaced
fields per second) also means 50 Hz.

I don't know whether or not the devices that you have will support a
1080p50 input signal.

If you want to, you could purchase the HDC-TM700 and do a test when
you get your hands on it. If it turns out that your other devices
don't properly support the camcorder's 1080p50 mode of operation, then
do all of your subsequent shooting at 1080i50, which should work just
fine with your other devices.

Just so that you know in case you decide to use it, the 28 Mbps VBR
1080p50 mode on the HDC-TM700 is not part of the AVCHD specification,
so you may have to search for editing software that specifically
supports it - or you could just use Panasonic's HD Writer AE 2.1
program.

Good luck!

Thank you for answer. Can you write me where I can get the short 50p
progressive encoded
avchd sample file to test it out on my computer, blu ray player and WD
Player on my LCD TV.

Thank you in advance

You could try the Panasonic Web site and if you don't find anything
there, then there's always your favorite search engine (Bing, Google,
Yahoo, etc.).

Can you write me if I better solution is to convert 50p into 25p or 50i into
25p
if there would be a problem with playing 50p on my devices?
I suppose that 50p convereted into 25p would be better than 25p which would
be
after converted 50i video.

What do you think about it?
Thank you for help

That's an easy and fast conversion for any program to perform since
all that's involved is dropping every other frame. Spacial resolution
isn't affected.

or 50i into 25p
In this case, you aren't changing the frame rate at all, since 50
fields per second is 25 frames per second, but you're deinterlacing
which regardless of the sophistication of the algorithm employed, will
result in a loss of resolution.

If I were you, I would try both approaches and test to see which
appears better to your eyes but keep in mind that 1080i50 is a
standard rate which all of your equipment should handle just fine.
It's the European equivalent of the 1080i59.94 that's used in North
America and Japan. In other words, if you shoot in 50i mode, there's
no need for you to convert the footage to 25p. Your
natively-progressive (LCD or plasma) HDTV will do that automatically.
