Hello,

I am looking for a HD camcorder with hard disk and media storgae. I tried
Panasonic HDC-HR100 for a week and found the quality terrible and so
returned it. I am now looking at Sony & Panasonic models below

Panasonic HDC-HS250
Panasonic HDC-HS300
Sony HDR-XR100
Sony HDR-XR200
Sony HDR-XR300

Panasonic models have USB and HDMI connections behind the battery and so you
need to remove the battery before you can use them. If the HS250 ad HS300
are as good as HS100, I am staying away from Panasonic. Pansonic uses SD
media which is cheaper.

Sony uses Carl-Zeis lenses on XR100/200 models but a Sony lens in the XR500
models. Also the XR500 has a more advanced Exmor-R CMOS sensor which is
supposed to be better for low light whereas the XR100/200 models use Exmor
sensors., But Sony uses more expensive media stick pro.

Sony seems to have the same model number with a C at the end (like
HDC-H300C). Are they different models?

Any experience (good or bad) with these models?

Any input is appreciated.

TIA.
